Colossians 1:9

  • Jami -
Her dad (Don) was diagnosed with bladder cancer. They recently did surgery to remove all the cancer and so far it all looks clear. So please pray that the MRI, blood work, and lab tests all come back negative.
  • Mandy-
We need financial prayer. My hubby is in the RV industy & it is in the toilet right now. We are doing what we can to stay afloat, but it looks grim. We're in the process of selling the house just to get enough $ to make it through the winter. No debt...just struggling to buy necessities. Not sure where we'll end up?
  • Paige -
(13 months old) girl who is battling stage one neuroblastoma which is a kind of cancer. Please pray for her and her family for complete healing. UPDATE: She's at home now and she's had one round of chemo so far. She'll have another round in the next 2 weeks and then they'll take a CT Scan of the lump to see if it has shrunk. Then they'll either do surgery to remove it (preferred) or they'll give her 2 more rounds of chemo and take a look at it again. So far she seems to be doing well, with no physical side affects.
  • Brenda -
Going for more tests this week at the hospital. She was already cleared from the results from her breast but we are still a little concerned because of our family history with cancer (Brenda is my aunt).
  • Samantha -
Zoe, her seven year old daughter has been diagnosed with scoliosis, a heart murmur, and most recently Mitral Valve Prolapse, and Patent Ductus Ateriosus. Zoe will have to have surgery...possibly in July. Their insurance only covers 80% of the costs of treatment. Please pray for Gods provision and healing.
  • Grandma Vicker -
Has had heart problems for forever but now her aortic valve is beginning to tighten causing her heart murmer to increase...so soon they might have to re-open her heart to give her a different valve.
  • Heidi -
She is battling all kinds of crazy...her diagnosis being: lacunar stroke; onset diabetes/ high cholesterol/ migraines. Please pray for all of that.
  • Gabe –

time to eat

P1020911 Even though I knew where we were going, it was an assault to my senses when we got there. I have been to the townships a millionP1020930 times already, as we run our own soup kitchens out of the poorer neighborhoods, and are pretty comfortable with the people who live there. But for some reason God met us there and I was moved. I don’t know why that always surprises me. So we pulled up in the

Toyota

and thought we had missed it. We didn’t know how long they had been waiting but they knew the routine. The women were in I think 6 lines; some had babies on their backs…some old…most in their 20s and 30s. Then the men. There were only a few lines of them. Then there were the children. P1020937 They were the ones who didn’t have parents. Some were as young as 3. I spent most of my time with them. They were mesmerized by my camera. So the Bible school students finally arrived and with them brought donated bread and fresh soup. Gallons and gallons of soup. Each personP1020955 received a loaf and a half of bread and then soup in whatever container they brought. Some in used water bottles, old bleach containers, butter tubs. Anything that would hold soup. These people who brought the soup brought so much more then nourishment. When we met with the Bible students later that night, they told us that they prayed with 4 people to receive Christ that day. This soup kitchen, this place is so very important because the P1020893 township people walk there every Wednesday from the dump. You see, that is where they live.

kristi: i just don't even have words for this...

Living in San Diego, we are only 8 minutes from Tijuana. I remember a few years ago, we went to the Tijuana dumps to bring bread, blankets, peanut butter, and candy canes. My husband was the santa Claus since he spoke spanish. I couldn't forget the smiles on the faces of the boys who got new matchbox cars and the girls got fake makeup cases. Their smiles..... I cannot get out of my head... the love of Christ!!

Kristi- I don't tell you enough. But what you do down there is incredible. Totally incredible.
Do you understand me when I mean incredible?? It means ALL GOD..All Incredible.

Love ya sista!!

I am so blessed when you send the pics of the soup clubs. I remember what it felt like when we went to help at the Motherwell soup kitchen. Tell Nosakhe hello for me. Thanks for posting Kezia in your picture. She was the one I held the whole time I was there and then she fell asleep on my lap. She has beautiful eyes. My heart goes out to the children of Africa and I am so thankful you and Dan are there sharing God with them. Love you

I love you too Mom. It was so rad to have you here and experience ministry with you like that. I don't know if other people get to do life with their parents(on the mission field)...but for me, it is/was such a privilege. Thank you.

I shared this on my blog...ok?
The pictures, the words, I am so grateful for you.
I know they are too.
I love soup.

I can't believe how good we have it. I love your blog because it helps me be thankful--it puts my life in perspective.
