time to eat
Toyota
Even though I knew where we were going, it was an assault to
my senses when we got there. I have been to the townships a million
times
already, as we run our own soup kitchens out of the poorer neighborhoods, and
are pretty comfortable with the people who live there. But for some reason God
met us there and I was moved. I don’t know why that always surprises me. So we
pulled up in the
They were the ones who didn’t have parents.
Some were as young as 3. I spent most of my time with them. They were
mesmerized by my camera. So the Bible school students finally arrived and with
them brought donated bread and fresh soup. Gallons and gallons of soup. Each
person
received a loaf and a half of bread and then soup in whatever container
they brought. Some in used water bottles, old bleach containers, butter tubs.
Anything that would hold soup. These people who brought the soup brought so
much more then nourishment. When we met with the Bible students later that
night, they told us that they prayed with 4 people to receive Christ that day.
This soup kitchen, this place is so very important because the
township people
walk there every Wednesday from the dump. You see, that is where they live.

Living in San Diego, we are only 8 minutes from Tijuana. I remember a few years ago, we went to the Tijuana dumps to bring bread, blankets, peanut butter, and candy canes. My husband was the santa Claus since he spoke spanish. I couldn't forget the smiles on the faces of the boys who got new matchbox cars and the girls got fake makeup cases. Their smiles..... I cannot get out of my head... the love of Christ!!
Kristi- I don't tell you enough. But what you do down there is incredible. Totally incredible.
Do you understand me when I mean incredible?? It means ALL GOD..All Incredible.
Love ya sista!!

I am so blessed when you send the pics of the soup clubs. I remember what it felt like when we went to help at the Motherwell soup kitchen. Tell Nosakhe hello for me. Thanks for posting Kezia in your picture. She was the one I held the whole time I was there and then she fell asleep on my lap. She has beautiful eyes. My heart goes out to the children of Africa and I am so thankful you and Dan are there sharing God with them. Love you

I love you too Mom. It was so rad to have you here and experience ministry with you like that. I don't know if other people get to do life with their parents(on the mission field)...but for me, it is/was such a privilege. Thank you.
