I am seriously all about loving my husband and loving my family and then my friends. Of course without saying, I strive (and a lot of times fail) to put Christ first. Actually, I don’t know what the heck I am doing. Do any of us? Really? We are all such broken, and selfish, and used up people…in need of a Savior. I know I am. I am just trying to love those around me, and build relationships. I am so distracted all the time by all the shinny things. I barely get anything done, so that is why I married Daniel. He makes sense. He is organized and well adjusted. He just makes sense. He is the love of my life and I respect and adore him more then anybody. He is fabulous. Okay…bla bla bla. More later. Maybe.

Oh yeah, about a year ago we sold everything we owned and moved to South Africa. It was probably the hardest and most wonderful thing we have ever done. Yay. We work and live in Port Elizabeth...feeding kids. We run soup clubs and a Child Sponsorship Program. Right now (July 2008) over 1100 kids get at least one meal a day through those programs. Holy crap. That is cool. We also are involved with a hospice program and some other fun stuff. Just trying our best to love people and build relationships. I hope we are following the Lord and living in surrender. Dang, I hope so. Right now we are the only people on the ground here with our mission...as it is ran and funded from America....so please pray for us. You can find out more at Onelifechild.org or Oceansofmercy.com
Hi there! we were both on Pete Wilson's blog yesterday. I'm glad your blog page was attached to your name. I'm the one that made the cosmetic surgery & starving kids comment. my dry sense of humor came out when people started playing the starving children card. and that people really spend time talking about such things.
this is a great blog, by the way :)

I love that you wrote this: "Actually, I don’t know what the heck I am doing. Do any of us?". In an odd way it's encouraging to me. Thanks for sharing your heart.

Hi Kristi, I really like this page and what you said about just trying to love people and knowing that we are broken, selfish, used up people in need of Saviour. I really relate to all of that. What you guys are doing in PE is amazing, I look forward to reading more. God bless.

hey Kristi,
Thank you for your work in South Africa!! I am a South African currently studying in the States and I want to do something similar in SA in the future! I followed a couple links and landed on Anne Jacksons blog and got here from there - she posted an excerpt from your blog that was very moving.

I just found your blog through Pete Wilson's....and, although I haven't read much yet, I'm just wowed by the fact that you sold everything you owned and moved to S. Africa to do mission work!! I am impressed beyond measure.
Over the last year, my husband and I have actually talked about doing something like that when the kids are grown up. I'm just starting clinicals for Surgical assisting, and so I'm waiting for God to make it clear to me on how I can be of service to others in the future. I'm so not there yet. And I often wonder if I'm too selfish to give up the comforts of my life. I'm working on this!!
Take care and God bless you.
