Book shelf

Daniel and I know how to heart reading. For reasons we can’t seem to fathom books here are like a bazillion dollars though (like $30 for old school paperbacks). So we have to haul them over from the States whenever we go back home or when teams come. We usually get them from the Goodwill or at garage sales. It is amazing what you can find for $.25. Anywho, so now we have all these books everywhere and no where to put them.

 

So then I was at this fabulous little coffee shop the other day and found a really cute book shelf in a magazine and thought to myself “mmmmph. I bet Daniel can make that” and snapped a picture of it with my phone. I brought it home and showed it to him. He said it was cool and drew up an outline. We went to the hardware store and 8 hours later I had a bookshelf. The next day he painted it and this morning we hauled it into our house. Seriously, I married Norm Abram. I would say it is the coolest piece of furniture we own….but it’s not. For my wedding gift he built me a bed. But that is for another post….

Marriage.

For the next 7 days Daniel and I are going to focus on our marriage and on not getting eaten by sharks. We are so excited...well, he is. I am staying on the boat. Hopefully you will hear back from me in a week.

While in the States a few months ago, we had the amazing opportunity to spend time and have a photo shoot with Jackie Cooper and her husband Casey. We had a fabulous time and since we hadn't had our pictures professionally done since our wedding, this was a great situation. Anyways, here are some of my favorites.

Daniel and I have been married for 5 years today. Woo hoo.

When my life is spinning out of control, I have him to look at to help me gain focus and perspective. He helps make the spinning stop but also helps me enjoy the ride.

HAPPY DANIEL DAY!

40 plus

James 1:27 says:

"Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world."

So one of the children's villages we support is under construction. They are having a major overhaul on the main building and so the kids are being shuffled from one room to another while the building crew fixes up the house. The house mom called Daniel the other day and told him that the contractor was getting ready to put some toxic whatever down on the floor and that she along with all the kids needed to move out so they could treat the floor. She was in tears as she called my husband because they had nowhere to go. So right now Daniel has 40 kids living in the house. Who knows how long that will last, but when I called to talk to him he told me the reasons why and I was like..."dang". I was ashamed as one of my first thoughts were not of "right on...they can stay as long as they like....bring on the marshmallows". Rather I thought about the mess and crazy. Daniel however quoted this verse and said if ever there was a time of orphans in their distress it would be now -as they are being "kicked out" of their home and needing a safe place to stay.

I love my Groom and am so thankful for his Godly example to me.

Now that is kinda funny. Sort of.

Somebody recently gave us a really lame movie so after we were done watching it, Daniel and I were making fun of it and being stupid and the conversation went something like this:

Me: We should take this back to the US and when we visit one of our friends house slip it into their DVD collection.

Dan: Ha ha ha that would be so funny, they would be like 'Oh, what's this?'

Me: What's what?

Dan: What are you talking about?

Me: What are YOU talking about? I thought you found something cool or something.

Dan: You are so dumb.
